Next week (w/c 25th Oct) GreaterSport are having a focus through their comms on GM workplace wellbeing and movement’s role within that and are encouraging partners to join them.

Why are they doing this?

To raise awareness of;

  1. The role a workplace can have in encouraging staff to move during the working day and how this links to wellbeing.
  2. The importance to an individual of moving during their working day and the benefits this can bring.

What is happening next week

Content will be taken from the workplace toolkit; which contains lots of information and ideas to get moving during the working day. Examples include, sharing what a working day could look like.

Some specific articles will be put together and shared on this site and GreaterSport twitter;

  1. The importance of strength and balance for the workforce.
  2. To reach a wider audience in GM we have partnered with the MEN to put together and share an article around the importance of moving more during the day and ideas for fitting it in.
  3. What GreaterSport do with regards to physical activity and wellbeing.

Life Leisure will be doing some online fitness sessions led by Olympic athlete Andy Turner on Friday 29th October to fit in with the message of ‘do what works for you’. These will be ran through the working day and details on how to book will be available on Life Leisure’s What’s On page: https://www.lifeleisure.net/whats-on/.

How can you get involved and support the week

You can support the week by promoting the importance of moving during the day, sharing pictures on social of you and your colleagues moving during the day, promote the workplace toolkit and re-sharing GM content. Please use the hashtag #activeworkplaces and/or #keepmoving depending on your posts.
