By Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity | 26 June 2023 | TAGS: GM Walking

It’s time to lace up your walking boots, don your running shoes, or simply get ready for a stroll as we invite you to Circle Home on The GM Ringway – Greater Manchester’s Walking Trail.

Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity invites you to join us as we explore the green spaces, waterways and countryside of all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

Spanning 300km and broken down into 20 stages, each start and finish point is accessible by public transport, in most cases, either a train or Metrolink station. Full stages range from about 6.5 miles up to nearly 13 miles in total, and each are also easily broken down into smaller stages using alterative transport options along the way.

Across the weekend, we will have a number of guided walks led by inspiring individuals and groups from our city-region's community available to join. Details of these will be released on 17 July.

Circle Home will run from Friday 8 September to Monday 11 September, giving you plenty of time to choose which stages to tackle, and who to tackle them with!

Join us as a company or business. Enjoying a team building day with a difference or netwalking with new, old and potential clients or stakeholders.

Join us with your local community or faith group. Get outdoors, get connected, and share some time to breathe. Join us with your family and friends. Embrace the beautiful blue and green spaces your home has to offer.

Connect with your friends, family, colleagues and community, connect with Greater Manchester.

There can be no better way to showcase the great outdoors of Greater Manchester and all the benefits that it brings, all while raising funds to fight homelessness in our city region.

Every step counts

The funds you raise will work hard.

We believe homelessness has no place here in Greater Manchester, and with your help, we can make that vision a reality. Since our launch, and with support from people like you, we have raised more than £3.1 million.

The impact of this is phenomenal. More than 70,000 nights of emergency accommodation in A Bed Every Night, saving lives and giving people a chance.

147 organisations funded. 12 years of frontline work funded. 40 grants to fund running costs, keeping services going through tough times. More than £400,000 on grants focused on targeted prevention.

Circle Home and continue that support. Pledge as little as £1 per mile completed and ensure we can continue this work. Compete within your industry, sector or company; take on your community; or race against your friends.

How to get involved

Sign up on our Eventbrite page whether as an individual, a community or faith group, or a corporate.

You can select whether you would like to hear more about the guided walks available over the weekend, or simply choose to Circle Home using the maps and apps available. We will send an email once you have registered and update the FAQs over the next few weeks.

In July, we will release further details about The GM Ringway app, helping you navigate the walking trail, as well as signposting the accessibility of different routes. Information on which routes are accessible will be given no later than 17 July.

From 1 August, we will begin to send out on how to start your fundraising – including setting up a JustGiving page, how to track your miles, and details about your event pack which will be available to download and use on the day(s) of your walk.

Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity are grateful to our partners in this exciting new campaign. You will be walking alongside the team at The GM Ringway – Greater Manchester’s Walking Trail, GM Moving, the Business Growth Hub, and JCI Manchester.

If you are interested in sponsoring the event, or finding out more about how you, your community, or your organisation can get involved, get in touch! You can reach us on [email protected]
