Greater Manchester Moving takes the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk very seriously and believe in equality for all.

We work closely with the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and, increasingly with the Ann Craft Trust (who provide information for Adults at Risk).

Greater Manchester Moving is committed to promoting the safety, welfare and equality of children, young people and adults at risk engaged in all forms of movement, physical activity and sport across Greater Manchester.

We aim to contribute to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk by;

  • Committing to the Child Protection in Sport Unit’s (CPSU) Safeguarding Framework
  • Implementing and demonstrating best safeguarding practice when staff, volunteers or others are providing services, activities and programmes for children, young people and adults at risk.
  • Requiring those individuals or organisations that are funded, or commissioned, to provide any services for children and young people to effectively address safeguarding requirements
  • Maximising our influence to promote safeguarding practice and principles within our wider partnership roles and relationships.
  • Providing parents and guardians with information.
  • Promoting relevant safeguarding training courses and access to information.

Following a Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) safeguarding review in October 2024, we have met all the required safeguarding standards.

This means that we are compliant across a whole range of safeguarding practices including Policies, Procedures and Guidance, Organisational Commitment to Safeguarding, Strategic Planning, Communications and Training and Education.

How to raise a concern

Whilst the sport and physical activity sector has put in place a range of practices to reduce risk, it’s everyone’s responsibility to make sure any concerns are highlighted to the appropriate bodies.

If you have any concerns about the safety of a child then please use the contact information below. No matter what kind of concern you have, if you are at all worried then it is important to act.

  • If a child or vulnerable adult is in immediate danger please call 999.
  • If you are a child or young person who is worried about something that is happening to you please contact Childline on 0800 1111, or visit their website for more help and information.

As well as using one of these options, or in cases were you don’t feel someone is in immediate danger, but do have concerns you can also raise a concerns with us at Greater Manchester Moving.
