Why I work with Greater Manchester Moving – I want to make a difference to people’s lives. I have personally seen the value of exercise and physical activity when dealing with anxiety and other issues. “Healthy body, healthy mind” is an old saying. As I get older, it seems more true.
Current Job – I am currently pursuing a portfolio career consisting of a number of adviser, trustee and Board roles. I am a trustee of a social mobility charity called Aleto Foundation. And I was recently appointed as Chair of the football anti-discrimination charity, Kick It Out.
Professional Background – I spent 29 years in professional services. The first 15 years was as a lawyer specialising in fraud and white collar crime. I then spent 14 years in various leadership roles in consulting including 12 years as a Partner at EY. I had a particular focus in legal and compliance technology and in innovation and transformation. I was also actively involved in EY’s diversity and inclusion strategies, sponsoring and leading many of our award winning race and ethnicity activities. I am a member of the government backed Parker Review on Ethnicity on UK Boards.
Skills I bring – I am passionate about technology, innovation, diversity and inclusion. People tell me I am quite creative and a bit of a lateral thinker. Hopefully, I can prove that to be true!
Areas of Expertise – Innovation, transformation, diversity, equality, creativity. Occasional humour.
Personal Interests/facts – I love MUFC and comedy (which, at the moment, occasionally feels synonymous). I also love music and movies. I endure the gym until I enjoy it. At various points I have been: a market trader; a lawyer for prisoners on death row in Trinidad; an amateur stand up comedian.
