Time on board - February 2023 to present
Why I joined the board - I am a system weaver, and involved in many different paid, and voluntary activities, across a variety of sectors and organisations. I love the way Greater Manchester Moving is approaching systems change work, and feel I have much to contribute, and plenty to learn, from being a Trustee and ensuring this change.
I want to be on this journey of radical development, to ensure the most disadvantaged children and young people in Greater Manchester, benefit and thrive in all aspects of their lives; and that movement, physical activity and sport play an active role in this future scoping.
Current Job - North West Area Director, StreetGames
Professional Background - My professional foundations are in youth work and community development work. I have applied the principles, values and approaches of youth and community work across my career. This has ensured a relationship first focus which is person centred. I have worked in many sectors including health, education, welfare, sport and youth work, and across local authorities, NHS, voluntary and community sector and in the private sectors.
Skills I bring - Person-centred practice, networking, system weaving, safeguarding approaches, collaborative management, open mind set, enthusiasm for innovation and creative approaches
Areas of Expertise - Equity and belonging, children and young people’s participation and leadership, co-creation and co-activation, collaborative working, informal education
Personal Interests - I am curious and like to learn new ways of understanding and being, and ensuring Gypsy, Romany and Traveller young people's voices are heard.
