1. Tackling street harassment of women and girls – Series of talks in Lyric Theatre
A series of talks and presentations exploring women and girls’ experiences of harassment on our streets and the actions we can all take to make our streets, parks and public spaces safe, welcoming and joyful for all.
2. Positive experiences for children & young people - Workshop in Pier Eight Workshop Room
A key moment in time across the sector to collectively shine a light on physical literacy and consider more deeply how embracing it systemically can really accelerate our efforts to drive positive experiences for all children & young people that build the foundations for a healthy and happy life.
3. Transforming leisure, pivot to active wellbeing - Workshop in Hexagon Room
Introduction to Greater Manchester’s approach to active wellbeing in the leisure services, including examples of work being undertaken in localities.
4. Active workplaces, #ActiveSoles - Workshop in Compass Room
This workshop will explore what we can all do to design movement into everyday working life, supporting improved employee health & wellbeing and creating more engaged and productive workforces.
5. Moving for mental health - Workshop in Quays Bar
Lee Buggie, Public Health Specialist, Bury Council and Ed Davie, Policy and Public Affairs Manager at The Center for Mental Health will be talking about how they’ve worked together to embed physical activity into the mental health plans for Bury. Lee and Ed will be talking about how they’ve created a mental health complex system map for Bury and how the process could be taken and used for physical activity, sport and movement mapping.
Panel: Active Lives for All: What will it take? Shifting culture, systems and ideologies
1. Creating a culture of belonging: What’s our collective game plan? - Panel in Lyric Theatre
A panel discussion exploring changes needed and work to be done to create a culture of belonging across moving, leisure, sport and active travel. So everyone feels safe, welcome and invited to move their body, in whatever way works for them.
2. Playing our full role for environmental sustainability – Quays Bar
Join our Long Table: An intergenerational dinner party at which the only course is rich conversation. Exploring the impact of the climate on people's ability to move and the roles we can all play to help prevent further environmental breakdown.
An opportunity to experience a participatory method for public dialogue and engagement to support shifting thinking, mediating tension and making space for the voices less easily heard to deliver individual and collective action to tackle the climate emergency.
3. Leading for Inclusion of disabled people – LEAD workshop in Hexagon Room
This 1-hour session will help you to identify your strengths but, more importantly, the areas of improvement related to disability inclusion, and you will leave with a plan that reflects the future vision of your organisation
4. Inclusive design of places: For healthy, active lives - Workshop in Compass Room
Workshop exploring the design, development and making of our places and spaces through lens of women and girls and children and young people.
5. Embedding physical activity in health and care systems - Workshop, Pier Eight Room
Workshop focusing on hearing more about active practices as examples of embedding more movement in everyday routines to improve physical health and mental wellbeing.
