Oldham Overview

Oldham had recovered to pre-pandemic levels in the previous 12 months for both active (54.5%) and inactive (35.0%), but neither for baseline, as the trend pre-pandemic was increasing inactivity. However, in the last 12 months this has fallen back to worse then pre-pandemic levels for both active (-5.2%) and especially inactive (+6.5%).

Inactivity

The inactive proportion has seen a significant increase in the last 12 months (+6.5%), and is above pre-pandemic levels (+2.5%).

Differences across demographics

Prior to the pandemic (2018-19) inactivity was not reducing across most demographics like the GM trend, except those aged 55-74 years and from lower socio-economic groups (NS SEC 6-8).

In the last 12 months again there has been an increase in inactivity across most demographic groups, especially those aged 75+, with the only exception for those from South Asian ethnic groups.
