The latest Active Lives results published by Sport England show that 72.7% of adults in Manchester are active for at least 30 minutes a week, equating to 322,000 adults moving; an increase of 15,500 from the survey 12 months ago.
72.7% of adults in Manchester are now moving (active and fairly active), this equates to 322,000 adults. Since Active Lives launched, November 2015-16, inactivity in Manchester has increased by 1.0%, meanwhile in Greater Manchester the rate has increased by 1.2%, in the last 12 months it has decreased by 3.2% in Manchester.
The inactivity gender gap in Manchester is 0.7%Since November 15/16 the gender gap has decreased by 0.2%. This change is due to a slightly larger increase in inactivity amongst men (+1.0%) than amongst women (+0.8%). |

The inactivity age gap in Manchester is 46.4%Since November 15/16 the age gap has decreased by 5.8%. This is a result of inactivity amongst over 75's declining (-4.7%) and inactivity increasing amongst 16 to 34 year olds (+1.1%). |

In Manchester 23.4% of those from a White British background are inactive, compared to 19.6% of those from a White Other background, 36.6% of South Asians and 35.7% of those identifying as Black. |
