The latest Active Lives results published by Sport England show that Bolton has recovered to baseline levels for both active (59.1%) and inactive (28.8%) levels and showing further improvements to pre-pandemic levels for activity.

The inactive population has seen a slight decrease in the last 12 months (-0.7%) but is still slightly above pre-pandemic levels (+1.0%).
Prior to the pandemic (2018-19) inactivity was reducing for most demographic groups in Bolton, except males, 16-34 years, those form middle socio-economic groups (NS SEC 3-5) and those with a long-term disability or health condition.
In the last 12 months inactivity for those aged 16-34 years has continued to increase gradually, whereas those aged 75+ has seen a large increase. Compared to those with a long-term disability or health condition that have seen a large decrease in the last 12 months in inactivity.
